Marlee Walton is a teaching professor in the Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering Department of Iowa State University (ISU) - also her alma mater. Marlee has been with ISU for nearly nineteen years providing oversight and teaching courses in the civil engineering curriculum. Marlee's current responsibility is directing and teaching the Department's surveying courses. In addition to her role at Iowa State University, Marlee provides site design engineering, property surveying, topographic surveying, and mapping services through her company, M. J. Walton & Associates, Inc.

Marlee has over twenty-three years of industry experience in the transportation area of civil engineering, working in both the public and private sector. She has functioned as a researcher, planner, designer, program manager, project manager, and company president. She has provided management and leadership services in surveying, photogrammetry, program management, transportation research, total quality management, and transportation operations.

Marlee is currently an emeritus member of the Iowa Engineering and Land Surveying Licensing Board and is a member of the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (serving on the Advisory Committee on Council Activities, Fundamental of Surveying Exam Development Committee, Examination for Professional Engineers Committee, Faculty Licensure Task Force, and Nominations Committee), ASCE (serving as Region 7 Governor and on the UESI SGD Education Committee, Committee on Leadership and Management, Committee on Advancing the Profession, Raise the Bar Committee, Past President of the Iowa Section, Past Chair of Transportation Committee in the Iowa Section, Body of Knowledge Committee, Curricula Committee), National Society of Professional Surveyors, Surveying and Geomatics Educators Society, American Society of Engineering Education, Iowa Engineering Society, and the Society of Land Surveyors of Iowa.
