Michael J. Byle is currently National Discipline Lead for Civil and Geotechnical Engineering for Tetra Tech, Inc. He is responsible for technical management of corporate engineering services as well as, project management and expert consulting. Tetra Tech is a leading provider of consulting, engineering, and technical services worldwide.

Mr. Byle has worked for a number of specialty engineering and A/E organizations including the American Bureau of Shipping as Lead Geotechnical Engineer for the Offshore Structures Department, Project Engineer for Chen & Associates, Inc, Sr. Geotechnical Engineer for Espey Huston Associates, Lead Geotechnical Engineer for Hardin Kight Engineering, Sr. Associate with Schnabel Engineering, Geotechnical Department Manager for Gannett Fleming, Inc., Chief Geotechnical Engineer for Schoor DePalma and National Discipline Lead for Tetra Tech, Inc.

Mr Byle has given numerous presentations on grouting at various universities including: University of Alabama at Huntsville, Johns Hopkins University, Northwestern University, University of Washington, Villanova University, Drexel University, and University of Michigan. He has given numerous presentations to the Delaware Valley Geo-Institute; and has instructed numerous short courses on grouting, and karst; and presented more than 20 technical papers at specialty conferences on various topics. Mr. Byle is a founding member of the Geo-Institute and Delaware Valley Geo-Institute. He is a member of American Society for Testing and Materials, ADSC, Deep Foundations Institute.

Mr. Byle has held a variety of positions within ASCE organizations including: Chair of Grouting Committee, member and Interim chair of the Technical Coordination Council, Chair of Education Task Force of the Geo-Institute, as well as chair of Grouting and Ground Treatment 2003, co-chair of Sinkholes and the Environmental and Engineering Impacts of Karst 2008, and co-chair of Grouting and Deep Mixing 2012.

Mr. Byle obtained his Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a Geotechnical specialty from the University of Michigan and a Master of Science in Engineering with a Geotechnical concentration from the Rackham School of Graduate Studies at the University of Michigan.
