Rick Plenge is a senior traffic engineer at HDR in Denver and has 18 years of transportation engineering experience in both the private and public sectors. His experience includes the planning and designing of a variety of innovative bicycle facilities, including several bicycle-boulevard, cycle track and buffer separated bike lane projects. He also participated in the planning and identification of future cycle track and bike boulevard corridors. Based on his prior experience as in-house traffic engineering consultant for the Chicago Department of Transportation, Rick is uniquely aware of many of the key design issues having applied and implemented much of the guidance issued within the NACTO bike design guide. He is a National Complete Streets instructor with the National Complete Streets Coalition and is also member of both the Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals (APBP) and Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE).
