Stephen J. Kirk is President of Kirk Associates LLC, which specializes in value engineering, life-cycle costing, sustainability, facility economics, strategic value planning and executive education services.
He has over 30 years experience in applying value-based design decision-making techniques to research facilities, labs, hospitals, corporate offices, hotels, retail, housing, and industrial facilities.
Dr. Kirk received the prestigious Gold Award from the Engineering Society of Michigan in 2010. Steve served as International President of SAVE International from 1998 to 1999. He is currently serving as Director and Vice President of Education for the Miles Value Foundation. Dr. Kirk is a Fellow of SAVE International. Steve is a registered professional architect, a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects, a Certified Value Specialist (Life) by SAVE International, and is a LEED Accredited Professional by the U.S. Green Building Council. Dr. Kirk is a Senior Fulbright Scholar in architecture and received his Doctorate of Architecture degree from the University of Michigan.
He is the author/co-author of nine books related to value analysis including Value Methodology Pocket Guide by GOAL/ QPC), and Life Cycle Costing for Facilities, published by John Wiley. Steve has also published and presented over 60 papers/ articles related to VA/VE including two chapters in the latest edition of the AIA Architect's Handbook. Dr. Kirk recently served as a member of the U.S. Congress established Industry Advisory Panel, for the U.S. State Department.
