Stuart G. Walesh is an independent consultant-author-teacher providing engineering, leadership, management, and education/training services to businesses, government entities, and universities. Prior to beginning his consultancy, he worked in the academic, government, and business sectors serving as a professor, dean, project engineer and manager, department head, discipline manager, marketer, and litigation consultant. Walesh participated in or managed many projects related to his technical specialty, water resources engineering.

Walesh has authored seven books and many engineering publications and presentations. His most recent books are Introduction to Creativity and Innovation for Engineers (Pearson 2017) and Engineering Your Future: The Professional Practice of Engineering (Wiley 2012). Walesh facilitated and/or made presentations at hundreds of workshops, seminars, classes, webinars, and meetings throughout the U.S. and internationally.

Over the past almost two decades he has been active, as a practitioner, in ASCE's Raise the Bar effort to reform the education and early experience of engineers. During the past half dozen years Walesh studied, wrote, spoke, and taught about how to use recently discovered basic brain knowledge, coupled with whole-brain methods, to help individual engineers and their teams and organizations work smarter, that is, be more effective, efficient, and innovative.

Walesh's professional work and society contributions have been recognized with awards from ASCE, American Society for Engineering Education, Consulting Engineers of Indiana, Indiana Society of Professional Engineers, NSPE, University of Wisconsin, and Valparaiso University.
