Tugce Baser, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, specializing in Geotechnical Engineering. Her research interests include unsaturated soil mechanics, energy geotechnics, and climate-change-related subsurface multiphysics phenomena. Dr. Baser has been awarded honors by international institutions and invited as a keynote speaker. She received the ISSMGE Bright Spark Lecturer Award in 2019 for her achievements in the area of Energy Geotechnics. Dr. Baser is awarded the 2020 Young Investigator Program and Defense Instrumentation Program at AFOSR for her research on the multiphysics behavior of geomaterials. She holds a Ph.D. degree in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of California San Diego. Dr. Baser is a member of ISSMGE, ASCE, and CGS where she is actively engaged with student, professional, and diversity development.
