Xiping Wang is a Research Engineer of the Engineering Properties and Structures Unit at USDA Forest Products Laboratory, Madison, Wisconsin. His research activities focus on nondestructive testing and evaluation of wood and wood-based materials, condition assessment of existing structures, and urban tree decay detection. He has worked on various structure inspection projects including industrial buildings, timber bridges, and historic wooden ships (CA Thayer, Wapama, and USS Brig Niagara). He is the Associate Editor of the Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering (ASCE), has over 90 technical publications, and jointly holds 4 patents in the nondestructive testing area.
