Purpose and Background

This presentation was recorded at the 2024 CI & CRC Joint Conference.

Demolition analysis can often be as complicated as construction, and it requires similar analysis for both strength and stability. This presentation discusses how the safe and efficient removal of the existing bridge contributed to the overall project’s success. The speakers will discuss the general project location, bridge layout and demolition sequence. The original construction and rehabilitation will also be covered. Then the speakers will cover the removal of the approach span, continuous truss, deck truss, containment structures, suspension span, tower, and cable removal by explosive demolition.
