Sina Kazemian, Ph.D., CPEng., REng., RPEQ, F.ASCE, a geotechnical engineer with over 23 years of experience designing civil infrastructure and dam projects across the Middle East, Malaysia, and Australia, has been named a fellow by the ASCE Board of Direction.

Kazemian’s technical strengths include geotechnical design and numerical modeling (computational geomechanics) of geotechnical problems, site investigation, conducting and interpreting laboratory and field tests, and ground improvement. In addition, he is skilled in designing various soil structures and various water and tailings dams using a range of geotechnical software. 

His industry experience is augmented by his leadership in academia, working for more than 14 years in different universities in Iran, Malaysia, and recently Australia as an associate professor, senior lecturer, lecturer, and researcher (part-time, full-time, and visiting). He enjoys and excels in both real-life geotechnical practice and innovative research. 

Kazemian has co-authored three books and‎ published 75 papers on geotechnical engineering.
