ASCE has honored Yong G. Lai, Ph.D., A.M.ASCE, with the 2025 Hunter Rouse Hydraulic Engineering Award for outstanding contributions in computational hydraulics and for leading the development of SRH-2D, a community software for two-dimensional hydraulic, sediment, and hydrological modeling, which has been widely adopted by researchers and the industry in the U.S. and internationally.    

Lai is currently a specialist hydraulic engineer, Technical Service Center, for the Bureau of Reclamation in Denver.

The Hunter Rouse Hydraulic Engineering Award is presented, upon recommendation of the Executive Committee of the Environmental & Water Resources Institute Hydraulics and Waterways Council, to a distinguished person who will deliver the Hunter Rouse Hydraulic Engineering Lecture at an appropriate meeting of the Society.
