Christopher Pray, P.E., F.ASCE, a senior project manager at GEI Consultants Inc., has been named a fellow by the ASCE Board of Direction.
Pray’s most significant contributions to the profession include determining novel approaches to streamlining the design of deep foundations and other soil/structure interaction elements and leading the design and execution of complex environmental remediation programs. His repeatedly demonstrated ability to integrate the requirements of multiple different engineering disciplines into cohesive design instruments has helped streamline projects, drive results, and save money for clients across the country. Chris has more than 18 years of experience in the profession, the last 16 of which have been spent with GEI Consultants, Inc. Chris is known for his strong technical abilities, forward looking and anticipatory project management style, and his ability to assemble and manage high performing teams.
Chris has led and been involved in multiple award-winning projects and has been published multiple times in peer-reviewed journals. Currently Chris is serving as the lead designer and engineer of record for a major remedial dredging and dam removal project on what had been a historically industrialized river. Additionally, he is the lead designer for upgrades and reconfigurations of multiple significant water resource infrastructure projects in the western portion of the country. Chris also works with contractors and particularly enjoys providing high level engineering services to aid in the execution portion of major infrastructure and remediation projects.
In addition to his project work, Chris supervises and mentors younger staff and serves on GEIs corporate risk committee where he reviews contracts and works with other project managers to deliver equitable risk appointment for GEI and their clients. Chris is thoroughly committed to supporting the next generation of engineers in their career development and is a regulator contributor at one of his alma maters, Tufts University, where he regularly presents on current projects and supports student presentations and career fairs.
Chris holds a Bachelor of Science from the United States Coast Guard Academy, a Master’s Degree in Geotechnical Engineering from Tufts University and a Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering from Norwich University. He is licensed as a Professional Engineer in Alabama, Connecticut, Indiana, Michigan, New Hampshire, New York, Virginia, and Vermont and resides in Boston, Massachusetts with his wife and two daughters.
