It’s starting to get real.
Conversations began percolating among ASCE circles about a new kind of infrastructure event – something more like an experience than a typical conference – more than three years ago. Something that would unite all segments of ASCE. Something that would bring together thought leaders from the entire infrastructure space – not just multidisciplinary but cross-sector – to connect and collaborate.
A place for big ideas, big thinking, and big solutions.
And now, those conversations, those plans are a reality.
ASCE2027: The Infrastructure and Engineering Experience is coming to Philadelphia, March 1-5, 2027, and this week marks the opening of the call for content.
“ASCE2027 is a groundbreaking step forward for ASCE, the joining together of all disciplines representing the civil engineering industry under one roof to share ideas and solve complex problems,” said Marsha Anderson Bomar, ASCE president.
“Engineering feats are not accomplished in silos. ASCE2027 will set a new standard for shared knowledge and innovative solutions. Now is the time to plan this discourse so that we can hit the ground running in Philadelphia.”

Proposals should address one or more of the conference’s seven key themes:
- Autonomous and smart tech frontiers.
- Engineering at the edge.
- AI-driven design and cyber-resilience.
- Future materials and construction methods.
- Rethinking infrastructure financing and policy.
- Future workforce and practice.
- Deep technical dive.
ASCE2027 is the place for bold ideas and transformative solutions. And the call for content is your chance to get your big idea in front of a huge cross-section from the infrastructure world: from engineers and planners to financiers, policymakers and social scientists.
The realities of the present day mean that the possibilities for future growth won’t be built on incremental improvements and siloed thinking. The future depends on civil engineers thinking big.
“The world around us is changing so quickly,” said Brad Kubiak, a Society director from Region 1. “In order to keep up with that pace, we need to continually be thinking of big, bold ideas.
“Climate change, extreme weather events, and our growing population – they’re all stressing our infrastructure to the max. We need to ready for those challenges. We need to prepare to build for the future, and that means big ideas and being bold in our decisions.”
Big and bold is what ASCE2027 is all about. Learn more, and submit your big idea to the call for content.
