Vision statement

I was sitting in class my sophomore year of college copying what the professor was writing on the whiteboard into my notebook mindlessly. My classmate leaned over the seats and asked me, “Hey, do you want to help restart the ASCE Student Chapter?” He explained a little about it, to which I replied, “Sure!”. ASCE helped me find the connection to the purpose of civil engineering. I was able to apply what I was learning in class – not the formulas, but the why. I was having fun, networking with new people and professionals, and learning about everything that I could do with my degree and license. When we work together as engineers, we have the opportunity to create a better future for all. Through life-long learning, promoting our profession and giving back to our communities we can accomplish great things. But to begin, there needs to be a leader. I have continued to serve in leadership roles in ASCE because I want to help others have these same experiences. It takes those of us who are passionate about ASCE to volunteer to setup and create a path for others to join.
