Elected Region 5 Society Director

 

Tony Palmer, P.E., M.ASCE previously served ASCE as the Region 5 Governor representing Alabama and as President of both the Alabama Section and the Mobile Branch. He was the 1996 recipient of the Mobile Area Council of Engineers Civil Engineer of the Year Award and the 2004 Engineer of the Year Award.

Tony has 46 years of professional experience as a Civil/Structural Engineer and Project Manager. He spent the first 26 years of his career with Brown & Root/KBR progressing from a survey crew rodman, to a design engineer, to a discipline lead engineer, and to a project manager working on dozens of projects throughout the eastern half of the US as well as Central and South America. He spent the next 6 years managing institutional projects for the University of South Alabama and has been with Hargrove Engineers & Constructors for over 14 years in an onsite role managing the design and construction of numerous industrial projects for multiple clients.

Tony was born in Houston, Texas, and is a graduate of Rice University, earning his Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree in 1980. Tony and his wife Alicia have been married for 44 years, have three married children, and sixteen wonderful grandchildren. They have resided in Mobile, Alabama since 1986, and when not spending time with family and working with ASCE, Tony can be found volunteering in the community repairing homes, building handicap ramps, coaching girls softball, or teaching children at his church.
