Aaron Frits, P.E., F.ASCE, ENV SP, Region 7 Society Director for ASCE, is GBA’s Associate Vice President in Transportation in Lenexa, KS. He received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering at Iowa State University and his master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Kansas. Aaron oversees Business Development, Project Delivery, and Talent Management for the Transportation Market of GBA across offices in Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and Texas. Aaron has 23 years of experience in Roadway Design, serving as both project manager and subject matter expert in Geometric Design. Prior to joining GBA in 2019, Aaron spent 17 years with KDOT in the Bureau of Roadway Design. During his tenure at KDOT, Aaron was very active in national research, serving on several NCHRP panels, and on the AASHTO Technical Committee of Geometric Design, where he was co-author of Chapter 9: Intersections, of “A Policy on Geometric Design of Highways and Streets, 2018 Edition”, better known as the Greenbook.

In addition to leading highway design projects and participating in Transportation research, Aaron drives Learning and Development at GBA, teaching and developing training curriculum for project management and leadership training, in addition to technical training. He teaches leadership skills for many entities, including ASCE, GBA, and TxDOT, and has presented this training at various conferences across the U.S. Aaron also serves as an adjunct instructor at the University of Kansas, teaching Advanced Highway Design since 2019..
