Cary Wingard is a graduate student in structural engineering at Florida International University and a Project Engineer at Pillar Consultants. She earned her bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from FIU Honors College and is currently enrolled in the 4+1 accelerated master’s program.She serves as President of the Structural Engineering Institute (SEI) FIU Chapter and as the Region 5 Representative for the ASCE Student Presidential Group. She previously served as Vice President of the ASCE FIU Student Chapter. In these roles, she has supported student engagement, coordinated events, and contributed to chapter operations.

Cary has been actively involved in national student competitions, including Concrete Canoe, Steel Bridge, and Timber Strong Design Build. She served as Project Manager for the Timber Strong Design Build team, leading the first all-women building team in the competition’s history, which placed third overall. She has also been recognized as a Top Honoree of the ASCE New Faces of Civil Engineering – College Edition. Her technical interests include structural design and construction materials, with ongoing research focused on optimizing concrete mix design using locally sourced materials. Cary is committed to supporting the development of early career engineers through mentorship and involvement in professional organizations.
