Jie Huang is an associate professor in geotechnical engineering at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). He completed his Ph.D. from the University of Kansas in 2007. Prior to joining UTSA, he first worked as a staff geotechnical engineer at Kleinfelder at Kansas City, KS and then as a transportation engineer at Caltrans at Los Angeles, CA. His research interests include soil improvement, geosynthetics, geomaterials and earth structures. His reach has been funded by local, state and federal agencies as well as private firm. His ongoing research is focused on using innovative materials to improve the sustainability in various geotechnical applications. He is a member of soil improvement committee and geosynthetic committee of G-I. He is an editorial board member of Geotextiles and Geomembranes and ASCE Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering.
