Mr. Yamatani is a Consulting Engineer for the Transmission and Distribution Standards department at American Electric Power. In this role, Mr. Yamatani is responsible for stewarding the development and stewardship of civil and geotechnical related standards for the Transmission organization. Mr. Yamatani also provides enterprise-wide subject matter expertise in civil and geotechnical engineering, support to critical projects, and leadership within the utility technical community.
Mr. Yamatani has served as co-chair of the ASCE/SEI OPS Task Committee on Overhead Power Line and Substation Structure Foundations. This task committee is responsible for authoring and publishing two manuals of practice (MOP 160 and 161) that provide comprehensive guidance for overhead power lines and substation foundations. Mr. Yamatani is a co-editor of both MOP 160 and MOP 161.
Mr. Yamatani is a licensed professional engineer in 14 states with 29 years of experience and a proven track record of success in areas of Engineering (Geotech, Civil, Structural, Transmission Line), Engineering Management, and Construction (Estimating and Field Inspections). Mr. Yamatani holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and an MBA from Radford University.
