Lily is an Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) professional and Water Resources expert with demonstrated experience in multi-national research and development organizations, private industry, and consulting. She is an experienced team leader, and expert in EHS risk management; water resource strategy; integrated management systems and program assurance; performance improvements and regulatory compliance. Lily received her BS in Civil Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley and her MS in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Stanford University. In addition to her Professional Engineer license, she is a trained Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma methods and tools to streamline operations, eliminate waste, and improve quality.
Spanning over three decades, Lily spent the first part of her career as a consultant to large- and small-sized municipal stormwater permit programs in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her career next took her to Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory as a surface water permitting subject matter expert, collaborating with local, state and federal agencies to permit complex, multi-year creek projects. Lily spent thirteen years at Chevron as a Water Resource and Compliance expert where she was a leader in water resource management, collaborating with other multinational oil and gas companies around the globe. Towards the end of her time at Chevron, Lily led an international team of Risk Management and Process Safety experts.
Since 2020, Lily has been at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, responsible for its environmental management system, and assessing EHS Division’s effectiveness of its work planning and hazards control processes to ensure worker safety and environmental protection. Lily is also responsible for managing the Lab’s hazardous waste handling facility in compliance with its Resource Conservation and Recovery Act permit, and leading Lean Six Sigma continuous improvement projects.
