Stuart G. Walesh was an independent consultant, author, and teacher who provided engineering, leadership, management, and education/training services to businesses, government entities, and universities. Prior to beginning his consultancy, he worked in the academic, government, and business sectors, serving as a professor, dean, project engineer and manager, department head, discipline manager, marketer, and litigation consultant. Walesh participated in and managed many projects related to his technical specialty, water resources engineering.

He authored seven books and numerous engineering publications and presentations. His most recent books were Introduction to Creativity and Innovation for Engineers (Pearson, 2017) and Engineering Your Future: The Professional Practice of Engineering (Wiley, 2012). Walesh facilitated and delivered presentations at hundreds of workshops, seminars, classes, webinars, and meetings throughout the U.S. and internationally.

For nearly two decades, he was active as a practitioner in ASCE's Raise the Bar effort to reform the education and early professional experience of engineers. During the last several years of his career, Walesh studied, wrote, spoke, and taught about using emerging knowledge of the brain - coupled with whole brain methods - to help engineers, their teams, and their organizations work smarter, becoming more effective, efficient, and innovative.

Walesh’s professional work and contributions to the engineering community were recognized with awards from ASCE, the American Society for Engineering Education, Consulting Engineers of Indiana, the Indiana Society of Professional Engineers, NSPE, the University of Wisconsin, and Valparaiso University.
