Purpose and Background
Geotechnical risk is a common, substantial component of a project’s risk profile that may be difficult to quantify and develop reasonable contingencies for. Differences in risk perception, risk bias, and risk shedding behaviors between the Owner, Engineer, and General Contractor can be mitigated using tools, techniques, and processes developed to actively manage a project’s geotechnical risk. This course will provide instruction on the fundamentals of capital projects risk management and introduce participants to a selection of effective, field-proven risk management tools supplying the project team with the capability to actively manage geotechnical risk and reduce the risk of unforeseen site conditions claims.
