Cary H. Beatisula, P.E., F.ASCE, president of CH Beatisula Inc. and an engineer with more than 22 years of active practice in structural engineering and geotechnical engineering, has been named a fellow by the ASCE Board of Direction.

Beatisula Inc. is a soil testing company with specialty services in structural engineering and geotechnical engineering based in Davao City, the Philippines. Beatisula himself is an accredited specialist in both specializations by the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers Specialty Division.

He is a former professor of civil engineering at the School of Engineering and Architecture of the Ateneo De Davao University (1995 to 2015) and a chairman of the Department of Civil Engineering (1998 to 2000).

At present, he is a technical lecturer for the Geotechnical Engineering Webinar Lecture Series of the PICE Davao City Chapter, in partnership with his company, CH Beatisula Inc. The lecture topics include “Geotechnical Soil Exploration,” “Soil Properties,” “Soil Shear Strength,” “Foundation Engineering,” “Liquefaction Analysis,” “Geological Site Investigation,” and “Geotechnical Site Investigation.”

Beatisula’s research interests are liquefaction assessment for high-rise buildings, pile capacity for liquefiable soil, geotechnical site investigation for medium-rise buildings, bridges, slope protection, and high-rise building.

Besides ASCE, he is a Fellow of the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) and was elected as one of the 2017 national directors and as 2017 president of the PICE Davao City Chapter. He is a regular member of the Association of Structural Engineers of the Philippines (ASEP), Structural Engineering Institute of ASCE, Geo-Institute of ASCE, and Geodetic Engineers of the Philippines (GEP), and is a founding member of the Structural Engineers Association of Davao (SEAD).

He obtained his Doctor of Science in geotechnical engineering at the Atlantic International University, Honolulu, Hawaii (2020), his master's degree in civil engineering–major in structural engineering at the University of the Philippines, Diliman (1997), and his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering at the Ateneo de Davao University, Davao City (1992).
