ASCE has honored Daniel Gross, P.E., M.ASCE, with the 2023 Construction Management Award for his service to the construction industry and the community and for his exceptional leadership on some of the most complex, impactful construction projects in the country.
Gross has set his firm, Benesch, apart as a national leader in construction management. He has been described as delivering “many projects by working ‘in the trenches,’ while ‘pouring his energy and expertise into industry organizations such as ASCE,’ and as giv[ing] back to the community in his guidance of future engineers, student mentoring, and other volunteer work.”
He led Benesch’s CM team as they delivered a multimodal improvement project that untangled a three-way grade crossing (vehicular, freight rail, and commuter rail). That project was awarded ACEC National Grand Conceptor award as the best project in the nation that year. Gross’ exemplary leadership, achievements, and grounded approach to some of the most challenging public sector projects in the country has brought great value to the clients he served.
The Construction Management Award is presented to a member of the Society who has made a definite contribution in the field of construction management in general and, more particularly, in the application of theoretical aspects of engineering economics, statistics, probability theory, operations research, and related mathematical-oriented disciplines to problems of construction management, estimating, costs accounting, planning, scheduling, and financing.
