
Eva Lerner-Lam, NAE, Dist.M.ASCE, founder and president of Palisades Consulting Group Inc., has been honored with election by ASCE for its class of 2025 distinguished members. She is recognized for her international leadership in advancing transportation technologies, standards, policies, and professional services.
Lerner-Lam has always provided expert advice on planning and operations of transportation systems to various levels of government. She has devoted herself to the advancement of transportation planning and engineering in the U.S. and abroad.
Her work was instrumental in the development of intelligent transportation systems application to public transportation and its security. She has advised not only the Federal Transportation Administration but also many state and local transportation agencies, such as New Jersey Transit Corporation, Rhode Island Transit Authority, Miami-Dade County Transit, Seattle King County Metro, Washington WMATA, Corpus Christi Transportation Authority, and many others.
Typical of her many innovative projects in the United States, Lerner-Lam, as an independent expert, formed and led an interdisciplinary team of technical experts and public transit managers in an international effort that established data object definitions and interface standards for public transit. This effort enabled standardization of relevant data needed to tie multiple applications together across application profile interfaces. She initiated and co-edited the first English-Chinese Glossary of Transportation and Development Terms, which was published by ASCE’s T&DI.
Lerner-Lam was elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 2023 “for accelerating adoption of intelligent transportation systems and smart cities codes and standards into engineering practice.”
Her commitment to ASCE’s Future World Vision and Cities of the Future initiates as a technical expert has been important to the success of these projects.
She is the recipient of numerous ASCE awards and citations, including the 2023 G. Brooks Earnest Technical Lecture Award, 2022 William H. Wisely Award, and 2010 James Laurie Prize.
Lerner-Lam has degrees from MIT and Princeton as well as certificates in Blockchain Technologies from MIT's Sloan School of Business.
