Purpose and Background
This presentation was recorded at the AEI 2025 Conference.
The CPKC Stadium is the world’s first purpose-built stadium exclusively for a women’s professional sports team, the Kansas City Current. This groundbreaking project was entirely privately funded and achieved LEED Gold certification, reflecting its commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency. The design and construction teams prioritized inclusivity, accessibility, and community revitalization. Built on a reclaimed industrial riverfront site, the stadium has become a catalyst for local redevelopment and civic pride. The project involved sophisticated coordination across multiple disciplines including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and low-voltage systems, all under a fast-tracked timeline. From premium pitch-level suites to integrated renewable energy features, the stadium sets a new benchmark in sports facility design. Its legacy extends beyond sports, serving as a multi-purpose venue and a symbol of progress in both engineering and gender equity.
Benefits and Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Describe the unique engineering and architectural challenges involved in building CPKC Stadium on a reclaimed riverfront site.
- List the various building systems integrated into the project, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and sustainability elements.
- Explain how design decisions were influenced by constraints such as site limitations, electrical capacity, and schedule acceleration.
- Identify the contributions of women-led teams and the impact of gender representation on project management and team dynamics.
- Discuss how the stadium has supported broader community goals, including urban revitalization, accessibility, and the promotion of women’s professional sports.
Assessment of Learning Outcomes
Students' achievement of the learning outcomes will be assessed via a short post-test assessment (true-false, multiple choice, and/or fill in the blank questions).

How to Earn Your CEUs/PDHs and Receive Your Certificate of Completion
To receive your certificate of completion, you will need to complete a short post-test and receive a passing score of 70% or higher within 1 year of purchasing the course.
How do I convert CEUs to PDHs?
1.0 CEU = 10 PDHs [Example: 0.1 CEU = 1 PDH]
