INSTRUCTOR:
Scott Breneman, Ph.D., P.E., S.E., M.ASCE
Purpose and Background
This presentation will provide guidance for designing, analyzing, and constructing CLT diaphragms used in a building’s lateral force resisting system. The discussion moves from a general description of mass timber to the specifics of CLT panels such as diaphragms, code requirements, and ends with a listing of additional resources. Design methodology, example problems, and additional case studies will be covered.
Benefits and Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Describe the role of cross-laminated timber (CLT) diaphragms in a building’s lateral force resisting system.
- Explain applicable code requirements for the design and construction of CLT diaphragms.
- Analyze key structural considerations when incorporating CLT panels into building design.
- Identify additional resources for designing and detailing CLT diaphragms in compliance with current standards.
Who Should Attend?
- Structural Engineers
- Architects
- Construction Managers & Contractors
- Project Managers
- Engineering Students or Early-Career Professionals
How to Earn Your CEUs/PDHs and Receive Your Certificate of Completion
To receive your certificate of completion, you will need to complete a short post-test and receive a passing score of 70% or higher within 1 year of purchasing the course.
How do I convert CEUs to PDHs?
1.0 CEU = 10 PDHs [Example: 0.1 CEU = 1 PDH]
