Purpose and Background

The management of quality in both the design and construction process is critical to the built environment. A project owner must ensure it achieves the value for money that it sought when it’s engaged a design consultant and a construction contractor. Ultimately, the quality of the constructed project is what gives it the functionality required to fulfill the requirements of its owner. The design quality management process must ensure that a high-quality set of construction plans and specifications are created, which in turn set the technical requirements and standards for the construction process itself. This course will furnish a foundational knowledge of the key concepts and approaches used to develop the quality management systems necessary validate that the owner has achieved its objectives for the performance of the constructed project.
