Awards Working Group

Charge:

To manage and oversee the Innovation in Sustainable Engineering Award and explore how best to engage the ASCE Section/Branches at the local level to recognize projects and people that represent excellence and innovation in sustainability.

ASCE is dedicated to honoring best practices in sustainable engineering.  Two awards are dedicated to sustainable engineering:

Innovation in Sustainable Engineering Award – This award may be made annually to a civil engineering project in recognition of creativity in the form of innovative sustainability. Projects may be any that demonstrate innovation in sustainability. Innovation means new approaches, new technique and results. The lessons of this project promised broad application to future projects.

Donald V. Roberts Global Sustainability Award  This award was established in 2021 to recognize the author(s) of the paper that makes the most valuable contribution to engineering in the field of sustainability. Candidate papers are those published in an issue of an ASCE journal in the twelve-month period ending with June of the year preceding the year of award. Authors may be engineering professionals, undergraduate or graduate students.
