COPRI Board of Governors

The ASCE Coasts, Oceans, Ports, and Rivers Institute (COPRI) is governed by a seven‑member Board of Governors. The Board includes one Governor representing each of COPRI’s four primary disciplines: coasts, oceans, ports, and rivers/waterways, plus an additional discipline‑selected Governor from the same discipline as the Past President. In addition, one Governor is appointed by the Board to serve as Treasurer, and one Governor is appointed by the ASCE Board of Direction.

I am honored to serve as President of the Coasts, Oceans, Ports, and Rivers Institute (COPRI) of ASCE and to build upon the remarkable leadership of Craig Jones during the past year. As ASCE’s community for coastal, ocean, port, and waterway engineers, COPRI continues to advance the profession through technical publications, conferences, scholarly contributions, and thought leadership that address the evolving needs of our industry.

The past year has seen significant growth and achievements for COPRI. We reached record membership levels, welcomed three new student chapters and one new professional chapter, and strengthened engagement across our technical communities. The launch of our reorganized Coastal Committee will help address technical and workforce challenges facing the coastal engineering profession. Our Waterways Committee is expanding professional development opportunities for members, while the Ports Committee remains highly active in producing technical guidance and planning for the Ports 2028 Conference. Our Offshore Technology Conference Committee also continues to deliver high-quality programming that supports innovation within the ocean engineering community.

As we look ahead, COPRI remains committed to serving as a trusted resource within ASCE, recognizing that our technical disciplines intersect with many areas of civil engineering. In the coming year, we will also strengthen partnerships with related professional organizations to amplify our impact and advance solutions that benefit the communities that we serve. We will also continue investing in the growth and success of our student and professional chapters, whose members play a vital role as local leaders, technical experts, and advocates for the future of the industry.

We are looking forward to a productive and pivotal year strengthening COPRI, supporting our members, and advancing the practice of coastal, ocean, port, and waterway engineering. I look forward to working with our dedicated members, staff, and partners as we build on our momentum and shape the future of our profession.

I am honored to be the COPRI Vice President on ASCE’s Coasts, Oceans, Ports and Rivers Institute (COPRI) and serve with my fellow board members. I look forward to working with President Erin Rooney to support her goals and objectives for the upcoming year.
