Two NSF program directors, Kara Peters and Grace Hsuan met with young researchers during the EMI 2017 Conference to talk about the direction of Mechanics of Materials and Structures (MOMS), Design of Engineering Material Systems (DEMS), and Structural and Architectural Engineering and Materials (SAEM) programs in the Civil, Mechanical and Manufacturing Innovation (CMMI) division, as well as other funding opportunities at NSF. Recommendations on developing a competitive CAREER proposal were also presented.
