
Stanley Young, Ph.D., P.E., M.ASCE, has been selected by T&DI’s Board of Governors as the Official Nominee for the 4-year position on the Board of Governors, commencing October 1, 2026. Additional nominees for the 4-year position on T&DI’s Board of Governors may be submitted through a petition process, the details of which are provided below.
About Stanley Young
Stanley E. Young has over 30 years of experience conducting and managing R&D projects in a variety of transportation, mobility, and energy topics spanning intelligent transportation systems (ITS), energy efficient mobility systems (EEMS), safety, automated vehicles, on-demand mobility, transportation system modeling, electrification infrastructure in right-of-ways, and various performance measures/metric assessment including the Mobility Energy Productivity Metric. Since 2015 he has been on staff at the National Laboratory of the Rockies as a strategic hire to develop their Energy Efficient Mobility Systems research team, and concurrently serves as the Eastern Transportation Coalition’s Chief Data Officer where he overseas the Coalition’s Transportation Data Marketplace – the largest multi-state transportation data market. Past experience spans government, industry (entrepreneurial) and research institutes. Dr. Young has championed several concepts from idea to implementation & market adoption. Some examples include: Bluetooth Traffic Monitoring in which he holds seminal patents; the Eastern Transportation Coalition’s (TETC) Transportation Data Marketplace (TDM) which he architected to include accuracy, quality, fair pricing, and competitive data use terms and conditions; and the Department of Energy’s Mobility Energy Productivity metric, a multi-model holistic accessibility metric. For these and other projects he has authored a variety of research and industry papers, and led, developed and managed various technical teams to accomplish these goals.
Petition Process & Deadline
Declared candidates who were not selected as Official Nominees may pursue election by petition. The signatures of at least one hundred and fifty (150) eligible voting Institute members, validated by the Secretary, shall be received no later than June 4, 2026. Receipt of the required signatures will place the individual on the election ballot as a Petition Nominee. To be considered for the position on the Board of Governors, the nominee shall be a voting Institute and Society member in good standing for a period of at least one (1) year at the time of election. The petition, nominee's statement, biography, and photo shall be sent to the Institute Managing Director, Muhammad Amer, ENV SP, M.ASCE, electronically at [email protected] by no later than June 4, 2026.
