As my term as T&DI President comes to a close on September 30, I find myself reflecting on what has been a remarkable year. We brought all three T&DI conferences together for the first time in Detroit, advanced the conversation on AI in civil engineering from T&DI's perspective, and laid the foundation for expanding partnerships with allied organizations. It has been a year of collaboration, innovation, and meaningful progress, and it has been an absolute honor to lead this institute through it.

Dr. Zollinger devoted more than three decades to teaching, research, and the advancement of pavement engineering. A professor of civil engineering at Texas A&M University and research engineer with the Texas A&M Transportation Institute, his work focused on concrete pavement performance, rehabilitation, behavior, and design. He was widely recognized for his expertise in concrete pavements and contributed throughout his career to advancing pavement engineering practice.

We are in the thick of a sports summer here on the East Coast, and the Knicks NBA Championship win has this city buzzing. First title since 1973. That kind of winning energy is contagious, and I could not help but reflect on what we just pulled off in Detroit.

The ASCE Transportation and Development Institute (T&DI) is pleased to announce Rick Boudreau, P.E., F.ASCE, of Boudreau Engineering, Inc., as the 2025 recipient of the Airfield Pavement Practitioner Award. The award was established to honor and recognize practicing engineers employed in the airfield pavement engineering profession with demonstrated leadership and achievement in airfield pavement projects.

The award, named in honor of Robert Horonjeff, recognizes outstanding achievements in and contributions to the advancement of the field of air transportation engineering.
