This webinar is sponsored by the SEI Performance Based Design of Structures technical committee.
INSTRUCTORS:
Ezra Jampole, Ph.D., P.E., M.ASCE
Alice Alipour, Ph.D., P.E., F.SEI, F.ASCE
Purpose and Background
In an era of increasingly climate-driven hazards and infrastructure interdependencies, understanding and mitigating risks across distributed systems is essential for reliable energy and utility services. In this webinar presented by the SEI technical committee, Performance Based Design for Structures, experts will explore advanced risk analysis methods for electric and gas utilities. Presenters will focus on asset-level modeling, system-level resilience and the interplay of multiple hazards such as wind, ice and flooding. Upon finishing the webinar, attendees will have a deeper knowledge of performance-based engineering approaches, reliability assessment and practical strategies for bridging the gap between research ideas and actionable solutions for infrastructure owners and operators.
Benefits and Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Apply asset-level deterioration, hazard exposure, and uncertainty translations into quantitative reliability models that support better planning and investment decisions.
- Explain how system-level dependencies, correlated failures and cascading impacts can affect infrastructure performance during extreme events.
- Implement advanced analytical methods to prioritize mitigation strategies, communicate risk, and strengthen the resilience of electric and gas utility systems.
Who Should Attend?
