SEI Fellow
When you advance your membership you enjoy recognition in SEI communications and at SEI conferences, SEI Fellow wall plaque and pin, and the ability to use the F.SEI designation.
To advance to SEI Fellow you must:
- Be a current SEI member with dues fully paid
- Be actively involved in an SEI committee or chapter
- Be a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Structural Engineer (S.E.) in the United States or equivalent in which the Member resides (if such licensure is available)
- Be nominated by an organizational entity of SEI (SEI Board of Governors, an SEI committee or chapter)
- Have responsible charge for a minimum of ten years (usually after obtaining licensure) in structural engineering that qualifies you to direct, conceive, plan or design engineering works OR 10 years of industrial, business, construction, educational, editorial, research, or engineering society activity requiring knowledge and background gained from engineering experience
Submit a complete application package by November 1 to be inducted in the next calendar year.

- Applicant verifies current SEI membership, name spelling, credentials, and contact info through MyProfile or ASCE Customer Service at (800) 548-2723 or +1 (703) 295-6300
- Submit Application
- Nominator submits Nomination Form
- Using the SEI Fellow Reference Form request references from 2 current SEI Fellows and 1 other SEI member
All information and materials are required at the time of the submission. Review the application and prepare materials prior to submitting the application. You will not be able to save as you so you must complete and submit the application during a single session. Once submitted you will receive a confirmation response and a copy of your completed form.
Review Process
All applications will be considered by the SEI Fellow Review Committee (SFRC) which is composed of an SEI Fellow, an SEI Past-President, a current SEI Board member, and an SEI Membership Committee member.
Applications are received by SEI staff, reviewed to ensure they are complete, then sent to the SFRC for review at their next meeting. Advancement requires unanimous assent of the SFRC. SFRC is authorized to grant waivers of any requirement by unanimous assent. Applicants who are approved for advancement will be notified by SEI staff.
