January 2026
To those who attended the TRB Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C., thank you for representing T&DI so strongly. Several of our committees held in-person productive meetings, and I hope the connections created more excitement for our main event this year, the 2026 ASCE T&DI Transportation Conferences in Detroit, Michigan, June 28–July 1, 2026.
As we begin this new year, I’m excited to work with each of you, and our Board, to advance the priorities outlined in our Strategic Plan. This year also marks the 60th anniversary of the U.S. Department of Transportation, a reminder of how transformative federal investment has and will continue to shape mobility, economic development, and access to opportunity across the US.
We now stand at another pivotal moment. The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act surface transportation authorization expires in September 2026, and discussions are already underway in Congress and across federal agencies about the next long‑term funding framework. ASCE continues to highlight the urgency of sustained investment through the newly released ASCE Report Card and ongoing advocacy. I encourage all members to engage in these efforts, including upcoming Legislative Fly‑Ins (March 2026).
As we start 2026, I invite you to consider your own transportation resolutions for the year. What commitments will you make to advance our profession, strengthen our communities, or push innovation forward? I’d love to hear your ideas and aspirations here:
Thank you for your continued commitment to T&DI. I’m excited for what we will accomplish together in 2026.
