Director's Message

Dear COPRI Members,
As we close out another successful fiscal year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the progress we've made together and express my sincere gratitude for your continued engagement and support of COPRI.
This year, COPRI has continued to advance its mission of promoting sustainable and resilient coastal and waterway infrastructure through collaboration, innovation, and knowledge-sharing. Key accomplishments include:
Conferences and Events:- The Ports '25 conference was our premier event of 2025. We have record registrations, exhibits, and sponsorships. The feedback from this event was very positive and will propel us into the planning for Ports '28 in Mobile, AL.
- The 2025 Offshore Technology Conference Technical Program received great feedback, and our Oceans Technical Community supports that effort. They are developing the program for the 2026 conference as we speak.
- The planning for the International Conference on Coastal Engineering (ICCE) is well underway, and we are looking forward to hosting everyone in Galveston, TX in May!
- Earlier this year, COPRI released its Waterfront Facilities Inspection and Assessment, 2nd edition book.
- We are wrapping up the Seismic Design of Piers and Wharves ASCE/COPRI 61 revision and that should be released in the next few months.
- We approved a new professional chapter that being the Hampton Roads, VA Chapter. They have already begun hosting events.
- Our Coastal Community is wrapping up a committee restructuring effort that will be released soon. This restructuring effort will allow us to remain aligned with current industry trends and promote a restored effort to improve Coastal Engineering moving forward.
- Our Waterways community has just begun a similar effort, and we are extremely excited about their developments.
- We have made a big push in this area over the last year. COPRI has increased its following on LinkedIn over 100% from this time last year. Our engagement is the best it has ever been and we look forward to continuing this important effort into the future.
COPRI's strength lies in its members. This year, we saw increased participation within our committees, student and professional chapters, and collaborations with other organizations. Your expertise and dedication continue to drive our collective success.
As we enter the new fiscal year, COPRI remains committed to:
- Advancing technical knowledge through new publications and research initiatives.
- Enhancing member engagement with expanded programming.
- Collaboration with other organizations to promote our mission and expand our footprint within industry.
We invite you to stay involved, share your insights, and help shape the future of COPRI. Whether through committee work, event participation, or chapter engagement, your contributions make a difference.
On behalf of the COPRI team, thank you for your commitment to our organization. We look forward to another year of growth, innovation, and collaboration.
Warm regards,
Dustin Young
