UESI Members,

As we close out 2025, I want to reflect on the Institute’s accomplishments and the remarkable contributions of the UESI community. This year has been one of growth, excellence, and momentum, achievements that members should take pride in.
Highlights from 2025
In just a decade, UESI has established itself as a leading ASCE institute and a strong professional community for pipeline, utility engineering, and surveying geomatics.
Some notable achievements include:
- Expanding UESI’s visibility across social media platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, X, and YouTube).
- Record conference attendance and participation, with more than 200 papers presented in over 70 technical sessions at the Pipelines Conference.
- Advancement of the UESI Fellows designation, spotlighting outstanding member contributions.
- Launch of the new UESI Board Certification, providing an opportunity for professional development and recognition for members.
Student Successes at the Surveying Competition
The annual ASCE UESI Student Surveying Competition reached new levels of participation in 2025, with more than 90 university teams competing at the regional ASCE Student Symposia.
Students demonstrated perseverance, collaboration, and technical skill in tackling real-world industry challenges using professional surveying equipment and methods.
Congratulations to every participant, and a special congratulations to the University of Toledo for receiving 1st place at the ASCE UESI Student Surveying Competition Championships in San Luis Obispo. We look forward to seeing that same energy and passion next year.
Celebrating 10 Years of Excellence in Tampa
The 2025 Pipelines Conference in Tampa, Florida, marked UESI’s 10th Anniversary with record achievements, drawing more than 1,200 attendees and over 100 exhibitors, along with record numbers of scholarship applicants and participants in the UESI Doug Jenkins Student Competition.
This milestone event reinforced UESI’s identity as not only an institute but also a vibrant, forward-looking community of civil engineering and surveying professionals shaping the future of infrastructure.
Looking Ahead
On behalf of the UESI Board of Governors, I thank our members, colleagues, and partners for shaping the Institute into what it is today. UESI’s success over the past 10 years would not have been possible without you.
As we build on this momentum into 2026 and beyond, I am confident that together we will continue to strengthen UESI’s foundation for the next decade of innovation, excellence, and leadership in utility engineering and surveying.
Sincerely,
Victor Fernandez-Cuervo, P.E., BC.PLW, ENV SP, F. ASCE
President, UESI Board of Governors
