Purpose and Background

This presentation will discuss the purpose and scope of Manuals of Practice 160 and 161, giving the audience a high-level understanding of how these documents support consistent overhead power line and substation foundation design. Attendees will gain foundational insight into each chapter of both MOPs, building clarity around their structure, intent, and practical application. The session highlights how these manuals address longstanding inconsistencies in engineering practice by establishing shared terminology, methodology, and design expectations. By the end, participants will have a stronger framework for applying MOP guidance to real-world power delivery foundation projects.
