Purpose and Background
This presentation will discuss the purpose and scope of Manuals of Practice 160 and 161, giving the audience a high-level understanding of how these documents address inconsistency in overhead power line and substation foundation design. Attendees will explore foundational concepts such as loading, design philosophy, geotechnical exploration, and parameter development. The session provides a deeper dive into MOP 160 Chapters 3–5 and Chapter 2 of MOP 161, highlighting how these sections guide consistent engineering practice. By the end, participants will gain a clearer framework for applying uniform, defensible approaches to foundation analysis and design across power delivery projects.
