Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) is one of the special initiatives of the Board of Governors of the Transportation & Development Institute (T&DI) of ASCE.
The mission of the DEI initiative is to increase equity, diversity, inclusion within T&DI. The goal is to provide a resource for T&DI members of different backgrounds to foster meaningful connections & share ideas; ensure cultural competence is a priority in T&DI’s leadership; and actively recruit diverse membership including students, academic, public, and private sector members.
Meet the Chair
Diniece Mendes, EIT, A. MASCE
Diniece serves as the Chair of T&DI's Planning & Development Council. She is a Civil Engineering professional with a specialty in Transportation Engineering; over 7 years of progressive experiences leading, streamlining, assessing, and implementing large-scale transportation planning and performance systems across the Greater New York City area; skilled at driving and producing results within the multi-layered and complex transportation sector, and at spearheading its development initiatives. Diniece is currently the Director, of Freight Mobility at the New York City Department of Transportation, managing a multi-million dollar freight program that seeks to advance policies and programs which provide safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible movement of goods.
