Purpose and Background
The purpose of this webinar, the second in a three-part series on ASCE 24-24, is to translate the requirements of the standard into practical guidance that supports informed design decisions, effective coordination, and professional judgment. Key topics focus on establishing minimum elevation requirements in real-world projects, where site constraints, regulations, and risk considerations must be balanced to achieve compliance and resilience. The webinar will also explore when dry floodproofing is a viable solution and when it may introduce additional risk; provide an overview of foundation and load path implications; and discuss coordination among critical project stakeholders including floodplain managers, code officials, and architects. This practical perspective helps bridge the gap between the updated ASCE 24-24 standard and everyday project decision-making.
