Please join COPRI in congratulating Russell H. Boudreau, P.E., D.CE, D.PE, M.ASCE as the recipient of the 2022 John G. Moffatt-Frank E. Nichol Harbor and Coastal Engineering Award.
The John G. Moffatt-Frank E. Nichol Harbor and Coastal Engineering Award is given to a member of ASCE who has made a definitive contribution to the field of harbor and coastal engineering, and serves to recognize new ideas to expand the engineering or construction techniques available for harbor and coastal projects.
Mr. Boudreau is recognized “for his nationally recognized work in coastal, harbors and port engineering and for his leadership of the next generation of ports and coastal engineers in the path of John Moffatt & Jack Nichol.”
Mr. Boudreau is a Principal with Coastal Frontiers Corporation located in Moorpark, California. He has spent his career specializing in the fields of both coastal engineering and ports & harbor engineering. Mr. Boudreau’s professional resume highlights a wealth of project experience in which he was project manager and lead engineer dealing with subjects such as: shorelines and shore protection; living shorelines; breakwaters; navigation channels and dredging; sand management and sediment transport; ports & harbors; sea level rise; urban waterfronts, marinas & piers; and ecosystem restoration.
He is a Board-Certified Diplomate through the Academy of Coastal, Ocean, Port and Navigation Engineers (ACOPNE) in both of these disciplines. He has also been strongly involved with the American Shore & Beach Preservation Association (ASBPA) serving on its Board of Directors since 1990 and as its Executive Committee Secretary and regional Vice President; as well as being involved in the California Shore & Beach Preservation Association (CSBPA). Mr. Boudreau has volunteered with COPRI and ASCE through participation in the PORTS® Conferences and the ASCE team following the 2010 earthquake in Chile.
Mr. Boudreau has been involved with many of California's major port & harbors expansions, such as Pier 400 at the Port of Los Angeles and Pier J at the Port of Long Beach. Mr. Boudreau was the lead coastal engineer for planning through the design of the major port infrastructure improvement project at the Naval Weapons Station in Seal Beach. He recognizes the big picture plans and designs for these projects and addresses the day-to-day details. He has been the lead on several large beach nourishment projects and worked on some small and innovative projects.
The award will be presented at the PORTS '22 conference 18-21 September, 2022 in Honolulu, HI.
