One Win – One Water Informatics Committee
Purpose:
The increasing availability of hydraulic and hydrological data in increasing spatial and temporal resolutions and the advent of internet-connected digital devices present unprecedented opportunities in planning, management and analysis of water, natural and built, systems. The purpose of the Hydro, environmental and water resources, Informatics Committee (HIComm) is to coordinate the efforts addressing these challenges and opportunities within the hydro-research community; to chart a direction for the near and far future development of the hydro-informatics field; and to recommend a role for EWRI in future activities. Specifically, the committee will aim at: (1) promoting HI education through publishing educational materials, i.e., webminars. (2) Advancing HI research, in coordination with the Journal of Water Resources Planning and Management (JWRPM), through publishing guidelines for publishing HI data and algorithms. (3) Periodic reports and articles related to the HI activities and conferences (e.g., the International Symposium on Environmental Software Systems (ISESS) of the International Federation for Information Processing’s (IFIP), the biennial International Environmental Modelling and Software Society (iEMSs) meeting and European EnviroInfo). (4) Reach out for non-traditional EWRI research communities, such as the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS), the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), to encourage submissions to EWRI and ASCE journals.
