
Automated Transit Systems Committee
Purpose:
To focus on fixed route line-haul bus systems on protected transitways, autonomous and connected roadway vehicles in transit service, hybrid transit operations, and Mobility on Demand (MOD) shuttles.

Matthew Lesh, M.ASCE
Matthew Lesh is an experienced transportation strategist and innovator with over 20 years of leadership in program management, business development, and mobility technology deployment. He currently serves as the Inaugural Chair of ASCE’s Automated Transit Systems Committee, helping advance the conversation around automated and connected mobility worldwide.
Matthew’s career spans roles with the Federal Transit Administration, where he co-founded the Mobility on Demand program, as well as executive and consulting positions guiding automated transit pilots, sustainable infrastructure initiatives, and federal policy development. He has worked extensively with federal agencies, municipalities, and technology firms to deliver innovative, people-focused mobility solutions that integrate automation, sustainability, and accessibility.
As Co-Chair of the Automated Transit Systems Conference, Matthew brings a deep commitment to fostering collaboration among engineers, policymakers, and industry leaders to shape the future of automated mobility.
