To further the mission of SEI relating to licensing, regulatory issues and professional development activities for individual structural engineers.

MEET THE CHAIR

Chun Lau, P.E, P.Eng., S.E., F.SEI. M.ASCE

Chun Lau managed and performed design on a variety of challenging domestic and international projects over 35 years. He retired from Brown and Caldwell in Seattle, WA as Managing Principal and is Adjunct Professor at Seattle University. Chun is a registered Structural Engineer in Massachusetts and Washington, and received his M.S. from MIT and B.S. from Northeastern University. He served on the Washington State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors, also as Chair, and is now an Emeritus Member. He served on various NCEES exam committees and received the Distinguished Service Award. He serves as the SEI Representative to the NCEES Participating Organizations Liaison Council (POLC). Chun also serves as the Vice Chair of the Structural Engineering Licensure Coalition (SELC), dedicated to support of structural engineering licensure nationwide. Chun is passionate about getting uniform structural licensure across the U.S. and received the 2022 W. Gene Corley Award from SEI/ASCE for his work to advance structural licensure.
