MEET THE CHAIR
LEIF ERICKSON, S.E
Leif Erickson, S.E., is a licensed Structural Engineer and the Managing Principal of Equilibrium Engineers LLC, based in Beaverton, Oregon. With over a decade of experience leading structural design on complex projects, Leif has developed a particular focus on unique and mission-driven structures, including animal care facilities at zoos and aquariums. His work blends technical rigor with creative problem-solving, often bridging the gap between engineering, architecture, and animal welfare. Leif is a member of ASCE and brings a collaborative, forward-thinking approach to practice development. He has led teams on both large-scale public projects and specialized private installations, and his firm is recognized for thoughtful, code-driven solutions that also embrace practical field realities. Leif’s passion for improving structural guidance in underserved areas of the code, like animal loading, stems from firsthand experience navigating inconsistent criteria on multiple zoo projects.
