Overhead Power Line Structures (OPS)
Purpose:
To develop recommendations for the design of electric transmission structures (transmission line and substation structures) this includes loading criteria as well as design procedures for sizing components.

MEET THE CHAIR
Josh Sebolt, P.E., F.SEI, M.ASCE
Josh Sebolt, PE, F.SEI, M. ASCE is a Technical Consultant in Overhead Transmission at Burns & McDonnell. He has worked on projects across the entire voltage spectrum, including HVDC. Josh provides firmwide technical guidance, training and professional development for all experience levels. Josh is also deeply committed to mentoring engineers, especially through the quality control process. He is a member of ASCE 48 Design of Steel Transmission Pole Structures Committee. He has hosted ASCE standards committee meetings at Burns & McDonnell, supporting collaboration among industry professionals. He is a past Vice Chair of the OPS committee and will serve as Vice Chair for the OPS Conference in 2028. Josh is a member of the SEI Technical Community Executive Committee. He is also in other professional societies that focus on the design and safety of overhead powerlines. Josh is a frequent speaker and contributor at industry conferences, where he presents on evolving design criteria, code implementation, and practical engineering considerations. He regularly co-presents with early career engineers as an extension of his commitment to developing the next generation.
