The EMI Dynamics Committee is excited to feature the Smart Resilient Infrastructure and Urban Systems (SiRIUS) Lab at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, led by Milad Roohi, Ph.D., M.ASCE, a research group at the forefront of reimagining how infrastructure systems are designed, monitored, and sustained.

The SiRIUS Lab advances cutting-edge research in engineering dynamics, smart sensing, and resilient urban systems to address the growing challenges posed by extreme events, aging infrastructure, and rapid urbanization. By bridging fundamental mechanics with data-driven and system-level approaches, the lab is shaping a new generation of infrastructure that is adaptive, intelligent, and resilient—while fostering a collaborative and immersive research environment that prepares students and partners to lead the future of civil and urban engineering.
