‘Tis the season — congrats to all the graduates! Whether they are advancing from kinders, concluding high school careers, or expanding into the “real world” from college or trade school — we salute all the accomplishments! We also know that few summits are reached alone, so we also praise all the supporters behind those successes. May you all bask in the glow and savor the magical moments. Milestones, such as graduations, mark the transition from one phase to another, and it is easy to reflect on how each experience builds to bring us to the next opportunity.

Your membership in ASCE and SEI marks a milestone for you. It represents an accomplishment and dedication to your career that is built with service and leadership. Whether you bolster your career with membership, service on a committee, or leadership in the Institute — we are grateful for your dedication and appreciate your efforts.

The progression of your membership is to advance to the grade of SEI Fellow. SEI Fellow “recognizes accomplished SEI members as leaders and mentors in the structural engineering profession.” If you have been a member of SEI for 10 years, consider applying to become an SEI Fellow. Applications are due by Nov. 1, so you have plenty of time. Each year SEI welcomes a new class of SEI Fellows and while we do not consider it a graduation per se, I would be very honored to welcome you to this esteemed cohort and celebrate your accomplishment!
