“Roses are red, violets are blue, I am grateful for you, and all that you do!” My valentine to you – as a member of SEI – to let you know how much we rely on you and your support to do the good work of the Institute to serve the profession. Thank you!

February is another month filled with many opportunities for you and one I am very pleased to highlight is the new education program: An Introduction to Performance Based Design Principles and Uses - Series 1. Kicking off in March with additional sessions scheduled during April, May, and June (each during the fourth week of the month to keep it easy to remember and plan around!) this series will step attendees through introductions to understanding core PBD principles and then dive into more specifics for PBD for wind, structural fire, and seismic design. Developed and taught by members of the SEI Advancement of Performance Based Design Committee., this series can be purchased separately or as a complete package (which includes a discount!)

A free opportunity for you to catch up on the innovative approaches for how the profession can meaningfully reduce the climate impact of the construction industry comes your way on Feb. 11. Brought to you by the SEI Sustainability Committee, register today for the half-day, virtual SEI’s North American Structural Engineering Sustainability Symposium to learn from industry experts! Attendance is free with registration.

Finally – the Call for Content deadline of March 4 is for you! If you are unaware, Structures Congress is joining ASCE 2027 and will be integral with this new, exciting event. So if you regularly submit content for Structures Congress, you will want to submit to ASCE 2027 – that is where we will be next year and you will not want to miss your chance to submit content.
